The irritating effect of insect bites and stings

Having certain types of insect in your home can be a nightmare. For example, if your property has an infestation of fleas or bed bugs, or there’s a wasps’ nest in your loft, you might be sick of seeing, or more worryingly feeling, their presence.

Rather than simply putting up with these creatures, now could be the time to take action and clearing your house or flat may be easier than you think. All you need are some effective pest control products.

Fleas

Fleas can be hard to detect, but their bites can be itchy and annoying. If you’re particularly sensitive to them, they can lead to a condition called papular urticaria, meaning itchy red lumps form where you’ve been bitten. Fleas from cats and dogs tend to bite below the knee, commonly around the ankles. They can also affect your forearms if you’re been stroking or holding your pet.

These little insects can cause particular problems if you’ve moved into a property that used to contain a dog or cat but do not have pets yourself. When animals aren’t around, fleas tend to bite humans more because they don’t have an alternative.

Here at Pest Control Supermarket.com we offer a range of flea killer products and should have exactly what you need. It’s important to bear in mind that treatments for your home should always be carried out alongside treatments for your pets to eradicate the source of the infestation. These must be specifically designed for use on animals and ideally recommended by your vet.

Bed bugs

Another domestic pest that might be causing you grief is the bed bug. These little creatures feed on blood and are typically four to five millimetres in length. They’re also flat and oval shaped and are red to brown in colour. Because they don’t like light, they tend to be found in cracks and crevices in headboards, bed frames and in the stitching around the edge of mattresses.

Their bits tend not to be painful, but if you’re been bitten before, you may develop very irritating weals or lumps. These are most likely to occur on your face, neck, hands and arms.

We offer a range of bed bug killer treatments to rid your property of bed bugs, including special kits. These contain the perfect combination of the most effective bed bug products and they also come with a step-by-step advice sheet.

Mites

Wasps

Meanwhile, if you’re living with a wasps’ nest in your home, it’s well worth considering your pest control options. After all, these creatures can deliver a nasty sting. At the very least, these cause pain and, if people are allergic, they can suffer much more. A minor localised reaction leads to pain in the area around the sting that can last for days. Worse than this, a systematic reaction often requires medical attention as it can cause the potentially life-threatening reaction anaphylaxis.
