A school in Kennebec County is issuing warnings to parents since a student contracted bed bugs. Bed bugs are a nuisance pest and can cause discomfort and irritability. They are active at night and feed on human blood. The bite causes no pain at first, but will cause a red, itchy spot which is like a mosquito bite.

Parents and Guardians have been advised to contact their General Practitioner if they have any health concerns. It has been said it is unlikely that bed bugs can infest a school, but it is advisory that all precautions are followed accordingly. The School has been rigorously inspected and will be actioned accordingly if necessary.
