NHS Rat Plague

An investigation has found an uncontrollable level of infestation following numerous Freedom of Information requests.

A rodent boom, increasing their population to an estimated 150 million has hit the UK due offices, pubs and restaurants being closed by lockdown. Experts believe these are ideal breeding conditions for rats to invade. The BPCA (British Pest Control Association) have stated they have had a 51% increase in rodent activity during the lockdown pf April 2020 and 78% increase during the November lockdown.

Over the past 12 months data from 80 NHS England trusts shows there 1,238 ‘Clinical Service Incidents’ which has caused services to be cancelled, delayed or interfered with. And of those incidents 28 where related to pest control.
