Indian take away owner fined due to abysmal food hygiene

In the April of 2018, Environmental Health Officers took a visit to Balti Night, located on Parliament Road in Middlesbrough to carry out a routine food hygiene inspection.

What was found was totally shocking. Sign of a rodent infestation and other serious breaches of food hygiene were obvious, so legal actions were proceeded against the owner Tarik Uddin and he was demanded to close the take away with immediate effect.

In January 2019, Mr Uddin appeared before Teesside Magistrates’ Court, pleading guilty to four offences – Failing to ensure adequate procedures in place to control pests, failing to keep the premises clean, failing to keep food equipment clean and failing to put procedures in place to protect foods from risk of contamination.

Tarik, who is 49 years old, was ordered to pay £742 in costs, a £170 victims surcharge and was fined £2,728.

Judith Hedgley, the head of Middlesbrough Council Public Protection said, “action such as this should reassure consumers eating out in Middlesbrough that poor hygiene standards are being tackled”.

Take a look at the horrifying images that were taken of the infested restaurant…
